It is with deep regret that we have been advised that John Kearns who worked in Customer Services within the Purchasing and Commercial Team as a Spares Engineer passed away peacefully at his home in Troon on Friday. John was a well 'kent' face in Prestwick and living up to the name of his favourite football team, he was the definitive Bolton Wanderer. He originally served in the RAF, before joining British Aerospace at Chadderton in 1989, he then spent a short time in Woodford before settling in Coylton in the early 90s, when the ATP programme came to Prestwick. He again re-located for the company to Toulouse in 1996. Where he spent some happy years and made many life long friends in the close community of Blangnac. John integrated himself so well into the local community that when the time came to close the doors in Toulouse and return to Prestwick, he was one of the last employees to return in the Spring of 2003. Since returning he had put his roots down locally in Troon, where he had in our hearts become an honorary Ayrshire man. He was an irreplaceable source of knowledge for his team and kept them amused with his great sense of humour and frequent practical jokes. In the last month, John enjoyed a final holiday in the Madeira sunshine, where he finally managed to fulfil a long term ambition to fly on one of his beloved ATP's. John's passing is a great loss and he will be dearly missed by all. From RA Internal Communications (UK)
